I am only aware of one other chat app that doesn't use public identifiers: <https://github.com/simplex-chat/simplex-chat/>. I hope more chat apps adopt this, because it's absolutely necessary to maintain sanity online in the long-term.
FWIW, it's better to release source code early than to make it perfect. No rational person will judge your code quality; a rational person would just submit pull requests.
