I'd like if I could connect to either human writing that is good, or AI assisted writing that is good, but either ignore or DiGEsT anything that has ads or paywalls.

I have no problem reading walls of text that are well written and specific to a problem. Either human or AI author, doesn't matter. I can tell when material is good.

Equally I can tell when material is crap, or just trying to make a buck off my attention.

Apparently modern commercial search engines can't do that. Open source AI search agents can change that. The low information AI spam crap can be identified and shit listed by better AI. And so can the corporate silos with their attention modification tech and abuseware.

That should leave libre authors, and actually good AI writing in my search results. There also might be a sideband report about the information in the "spam fraction" of the results, if I wanted or needed it. But the engine would work hard to provide clean sources in 95% of cases.

I could really learn to live with that, in fact.
